We are now enjoying the autumn season here in Springbank Hill, with all our wonderful and colourful outdoor spaces! I do have a few brief updates for you in this column.
We had another successful Annual General Meeting on October 29, which included the sharing of our audited year-end financials and the nomination of our board of directors for another year. We also did discuss the 2025 community survey results. Please see the detailed article on this topic in this newsletter, and thanks to all members who participated in the survey. Your ideas and comments are very important to us as it helps us shape our direction and priorities. And it’s great to report that we are holding an adult event on November 8, our Wine and Cheese Fundraiser at BKL Wines here in our community. At this time of writing this column we still had a few tickets left but we do expect this to be a sold-out event. With all the development happening in our community we are seeing a gradual transition from the original rural-like setting to a more mixed-use urban experience including new retail as well as housing. So it is with great pleasure that we also provide an article in this newsletter with a tribute to the Taylor family, owners of one of the rural acreages that is currently under redevelopment into multi-family housing. Be sure to check the stone monument honouring the Taylor family recently erected by Slokker Homes in the Spring Willow section of our community.
At this time, I want to formally introduce Shelly Smith, who has assumed the role of president of the Springbank Hill Community Association. Shelly had been serving as our vice president and was nominated at the AGM to the role of president. I also want to thank everyone for their support during my twelve-year tenure as a member of the board of directors, seven of those years as president. It was a very rewarding time for me, and I recently decided it was time to step down and allow others to continue growing the legacy of our community association.
Thanks to all of you for your support and please welcome our new president, Shelly Smith!
Elio Cozzi
