Online Maps Show Calgary’s Sustainable Infrastructure

In 2004, Calgary became the first municipality in Canada to adopt a sustainable building policy. Now, citizens can see how The City of Calgary is putting the policy into action with The Sustainable Infrastructure Map.

It’s located at https://maps.calgary.ca/SustainableInfrastructureMaps and is a series of maps that show all the City of Calgary certified green buildings and their respective Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) scorecard.

Sustainable building and construction practices focus on energy optimization of facilities. Energy optimization reduces The City’s utility costs, supports The City’s Climate Resilience Strategy and helps achieve The City’s 2020 and 2050 greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

Increasingly, Calgarians, businesses and The City are evaluating and using alternative energy sources and technologies to operate their homes and buildings. The solar potential map located on this webpage is intended to be a starting point for people who are curious about the viability of solar as an energy source for their particular building.

This mobile-friendly map also helps electric vehicle owners find the nearest electric charging station in Calgary.
