October 2021 MLA Report – Calgary Glenmore – Whitney Issik

Calgary Glenmore

Dear Friends,

I love the arrival of fall and the changes in colour of the leaves and foliage. Nothing beats a walk through the fantastic parks that border our communities at this time of year.

With the Civic election on October 18, 2021, Albertans will be able to vote on two referendum questions. One question will relate to Equalization and the other relates to Alberta adopting year-round Daylight-Saving Time. General information about the referendum is available at https://www.alberta.ca/provincial-referendum.

Many of you have contacted my office inquiring about the completion of the Southwest Calgary Ring Road. I have been advised by the Minister of Transportation that work is on track and the completion date for the connection from Stoney Trail to Highway 22X continues to be fall 2021. Hopes are that by the time you read this the road has been opened and is ready for all to travel.

I have also received concern over the issue of street racing along the SWCRR from Glenmore Trail to Fish Creek Boulevard. I have confirmed that this issue is the responsibility of the Calgary Police Service (CPS).

To assist, the CPS has instituted a process in which citizens can report traffic violations. Traffic Service Requests deals with persistent traffic violation(s) that are noted by the public in a specific area. To initiate a Traffic Service Request, please visit the following link at: <a href="https://coplogic.versaterm.com/dors/en/filing/showprefilingquestion?dynparam=<a href="tel:15421401298“>1542140129813″ target=”_blank”><a href="https://coplogic.versaterm.com/dors/en/filing/showprefilingquestion?dynparam=<a href="tel:15421401298“>1542140129813″ target=”_blank”>https://coplogic.versaterm.com/dors/en/filing/showprefilingquestion?dynparam=<a href="tel:15421401298“>1542140129813.

It is important that you contact the CPS with these street racing concerns so that they are logged, and the frequency is noted to CPS so that they can have officers respond to this dangerous offence.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families. Embrace the season!

Sincerely yours,

Whitney Issik
