Kids are ready to head back to class and as the first province to have fully opened up, Alberta has had a great summer. It’s been wonderful to see kids finally getting back to doing what they do best – having fun. This summer has also been about reconnecting with friends and family, to come together as a community once again.

After all the challenges our province has faced, we are confident that the great Alberta comeback is underway.

After five tough years of economic stagnation and the compounding effects of a global economic recession, the pandemic, and a collapse in oil prices, there is finally good news. Alberta’s government is helping breathe new life into the economy to create new opportunities for all Albertans.

We’ve seen the largest ever investments in infrastructure – building roads, schools, hospitals, and more. Many economic forecasts and big banks say Alberta will lead all provinces in economic growth, this year and next.

With an emphasis on access to childcare to aid economic recovery, Alberta’s government is ensuring more working parents can access childcare through the childcare subsidy which will now also include those in licensed preschool programs.

Thanks to Alberta’s Recovery Plan, we are seeing the best year ever in the forestry industry, the film and television industry, venture capital investment, the digital and high-tech industry, stronger commodity prices, and diversification though investment in industries like hydrogen. Additionally, the Alberta Jobs Now program has provided employment to more than 14,000 Albertans.

I am confident we are not just on our way back to normal – we are on our way to our greatest days yet. We will continue to lead the way as our government forges a path forward focused on the Alberta Recovery Plan to build, diversify, and create jobs.
