January 2020 MLA Report – Calgary Klein – Jeremy Nixon

Calgary Klein

Happy New Year! Welcome 2021,

As we say goodbye, and maybe good riddance, to 2020, I am reflecting on the past year, but also looking forward to 2021. Last year wasn’t what anyone could predict, but maybe it has prepared us to face anything 2021 throws our way.

Through these volatile times, it has been an honour to represent Calgary-Klein in Edmonton. I understand that we may have differing views, and some of us may never agree politically, but it is inspiring to see how the residents of our communities have come together to help and support each other.

As a new MLA, meeting with the many different ethnic communities in our diverse riding has been one of the highlights of my role. I am eager to learn more, please don’t hesitate to connect.

The resounding message I hear from everyone is that people are concerned. They are worried about their jobs, their loved ones, their children, their futures. I want to assure you that I hear you and understand these concerns. At this time last year, COVID-19 was a virus we may have heard about in other parts of the world, but it wasn’t something that had hit our homes.

The Alberta government continues to focus on protecting the lives and livelihoods of all Albertans. This is why I stand behind Alberta’s Recovery Plan. It is a balanced approach, investing in infrastructure, creating jobs and diversification.

I look forward to the new year, and hope 2021 brings you health, safety, peace, and optimism.

Kindest regards,
