2020 was a year unlike any other.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a part of our lives for nearly 10 months.
Thousands of Albertans are dealing with the pain of losing a loved one. Thousands more have lost their jobs, their businesses, their sense of stability and security. All of our lives have been impacted and changed by COVID-19, and the economic collapse that we faced for most of 2020.
And we continue to face these challenges still.
But there is reason for optimism. Hope is on the horizon.
Around the world, incredible progress has been made on vaccines. Some are in the final stages of testing and approval. We are expecting to get our first doses soon.
We are finally turning the corner on this pandemic. And, we are seeing signs of growth in our economy, including record setting investment in areas like, artificial intelligence and technology.
2021 will be Alberta’s year.
Once we have a vaccine we can rely on, we can focus on getting our economy back on track. Last year, we took action with a bold, ambitious plan, with a historic $10 billion infrastructure build to help get 50,000 Albertans back to work. Alberta’s Recovery Plan was created so that we could protect lives and livelihoods.
As we look ahead, we see that there is still a lot of work to do. That’s why Alberta’s government is laser focused on bringing in job-creating investments, by making Alberta the most competitive place in North America to do business. We won’t stop until Alberta is once again the best place to live, work, raise a family, and start a business.
Let’s get’er done!
