Alberta’s government has taken unprecedented action to protect lives and livelihoods during the coronavirus pandemic. As folks continue to take more steps to return to sense of normality, we are seeing encouraging signs that Alberta’s Recovery Plan is making a difference.
After the triple whammy of the COVID-19, the global recession, and the Saudi-Russia price war that decimated our natural resource revenues, Alberta needed to take bold action. That’s what our Recovery Plan is.
By investing more than $10 billion to build roads, new schools, and other key infrastructure, we are creating jobs now while ensuring that Alberta has a path for success and growth in the future. And, we are taking concrete steps to diversify our economy, in part by creating the most business-friendly environment in Canada by cutting red tape and accelerating the Job Creation Tax Cut to bring new job creators to Alberta.
All of these actions are part of our recovery plan, to create 55,000 jobs and put our province on a long-term path to prosperity and growth. And you know what? It’s working.
After months of job losses, we are seeing our unemployment numbers continue to steadily drop as more Albertans are getting back to work.
There’s still a long way to go, but together our province will succeed. Just like Albertans came together to flatten the curve and save lives, we must now do that same thing to save livelihoods, so that Alberta remains the best place in the world to live, work, and raise a family.
