Request for Nominations from Calgary Midnapore
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrating her Platinum Jubilee on June 2, 2022. She has dedicated 70 years to public service and continues to serve Canada and Canadians.
She has been true to her address to the Commonwealth on April 21, 1947, that she would dedicate her life “whether it be long or short” to the service of others. Her Majesty has been unwavering in keeping her promise — a promise valued by Canada and the entire Commonwealth.
Calgary has had the privilege of hosting the Queen in Calgary on a number of occasions, including 1959, 1973, 1990, and in 2005 to celebrate Alberta’s centennial. She also visited Calgary in 1951, while a Princess. Canadians have always had a special relationship with our Queen. She chose to honeymoon here, has taken 22 official tours here, and personally signed our Constitution Act into law in 1982. Though her official role has diminished during the many years of her rule, Canadians have always remained proud of our monarchist roots and take deep pride in being a commonwealth country.
I have been advised that, as a Member of Parliament, I will be receiving a number of Platinum Jubilee commemorative lapel pins. As part of efforts to honour Her Majesty, I would like to ensure these go to constituents of Calgary Midnapore who have made significant contributions to their communities.
If you know someone in the riding who exemplifies the Queen’s legacy of service to others, please consider nominating them to receive one of these commemorative pins. Nominations must be in writing, and must include:

3. A summary of the nominee’s contributions.
