Learn more about your Calgary Catholic School District Board of Trustees!

With the 2020-2021 school year about to start, the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) would like to welcome back our staff and families. To those new to CCSD, we are delighted to have you with us! With 117 schools and over 5,500 staff who will welcome over 58,000 students in Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, and Cochrane, CCSD is Alberta’s largest separate school division.

Typically, a return to school brings with it excitement over meeting old friends, making new ones, and embracing the opportunity to learn. We are excited to be a part of these important experiences in our students’ lives. We also recognize that this year’s return to school will be different for our families and staff. The realities of the COVID-19 pandemic have made it essential for measures to be put in place to ensure that we are doing all that we can to support the well-being of students and staff. We recognize that top of mind for many will be the safety of loved ones and staff. It’s also important to note that flexibility will be needed during the school year as there may be movement between scenarios: 1 – in-school classes resume daily with health measures, 2 – in-school classes partially resume with additional health measures, and 3 – learning from home.

Determinations on the scenario triggered will be informed by recommendations from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Canada, Alberta Health Services, Ministerial Orders, and of the Medical Officers of Health, among others.

CCSD has developed a resource designed to answer questions and support our families and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. The School Resumption Handbook is available on our website and will be updated as new information emerges. It contains useful, current information for administrators, staff, parents, and students from K-12. Additional considerations for English Language Learners, as well as special needs students, are included. The handbook can be viewed at: https://ccsdinfo.ca/SchoolResumptionHandbook.

We are confident, as we begin the 2020-2021 school year, that by working together, our students and staff will enjoy a safe, inspiring school year. Welcome back!
