Diamond Cove’s January President’s Message

Dear Diamond Cove Residents,

I hope everyone had a very wonderful Christmas season, and all the very best in 2021. With all that has happened in 2020, it will be nice to leave this behind and look forward to better days ahead.

I want to send out a sincere thank-you to Amber McLellan, Mary Tamaki, and Leanne Jordan for updating the winter pots this year, as they look great and it was a really nice improvement. As fresh greenery was used, we will need to find a more permanent solution for next year, so if anyone has any contacts in the artificial plant industry, please drop me a line at the contact below.

Regarding the winter pots and possible future community events, I’m not sure if most of you are aware that DCHOA’s does not receive any funding from community memberships, like Queensland and other communities. The only funding we have is the property tax levy that was voted on in years past that just covers the cost of the summer flower pots and their upkeep. Three years ago, the city decided they would no longer participate in the maintenance of the flower pots, and we were able to get Mackenzie Towne to come in to plant and manage our flower pots for the spring and summer season. They do a great job, and we are happy to have them, but they don’t do the winter baskets. The total cost of the levy goes to paying Mackenzie Towne’s fee for our spring and summer flowers.

That’s why I’m proposing a possible donation by the homeowners in Diamond Cove of $30.00, which is similar to a community membership fee and would go a long way for paying for the winter baskets, along with a few small community events.

For those wishing to donate, please make out your cheque to Diamond Cove Homeowner’s Association, and you can drop it off at Jerry and Amber’s, or any other board member’s home.

Please email below for addresses, as we can also pick up your donation.

We thank you in advance for your consideration; without possible funding we may have to give up the winter baskets which I know bring a little bit of sparkle to the winter season.

On another note, I want to say thanks to Sonja Dantu for organizing a great Christmas Decorating event!

A great way to make our community beautiful, and nice to see all the neighbours outside enjoying the sights!

Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Jerry McLellan

President
