Queensland’s June President’s Message

Hi Everyone,

Here we are in to the month of June. At long last we are able to enjoy the sunshine, warmth and fresh air. I didn’t think that we would ever get there but here we are, for a few months anyway.

Well, this has definitely been an eyeopener for the beginning of the 2020 year. I have never, ever seen anything like this happen before where the entire world would be reacting to an illness like what we all have had to deal with. When I was told that we were all going to be in an isolation state where we would be working from home, homeschooling our children, and not being able to see our immediate family and friends etc., I thought that I would go nuts but that has not been the case at all. All of my spring house cleaning is done, my homemade Christmas Presents are almost all done, I have been reading more and communicating with family and friends by emails, texting, and phone calls. Most important though is that I haven’t been asked for a divorce or been served divorce papers from my husband.

I am very proud of our Queensland Diamond Cove Residents and every single business that has had to change their operation and lifestyles during this time. Congratulations to all for abiding by the rules set out by Alberta Health with self-isolation in homes and social distancing in stores, more deliveries available for us, the way medical clinics and pharmacies are still being available for patients, government funding for those in need, etc. I am so very proud of the younger adults who have stepped forward to help with grocery buying for the seniors or young moms that can’t get out as easily because of the children. You are all so awesome! It is great now that the weather is nicer, and we can enjoy walks outside, but still remember the distancing we still need to have between friends and neighbours.

Well, there isn’t really anything to report from the community association. As of today, the first of May, (the date that I am typing this) we are still closed to all rentals. We will still be that way until we are told differently by the city. Everything is still up in the air as to when we will be having our AGM and able to have small gatherings again. If you see a few vehicles in the community parking lot in the next couple of months, please do not panic and wonder what is going on. We are just beginning to get started on some of the renovations that are to be done to update the community center.

Well that is all for now.

Until next time,

Judith
