Coyotes in Our Neighbourhood

Many people have reported seeing a coyote hanging around our community centre this summer. Generally, coyotes are not dangerous to people, but it is important to be cautious, especially if the animal is acting aggressively.

Be sure to never leave small children unattended and keep dogs on a leash. It may be a good idea to carry a whistle with you in areas frequented by coyotes. If a coyote does approach you, do not run or turn away, but rather try to scare the animal by shouting and waving your arms overhead. Maintain eye contact with the coyote as you back away slowly.
