Dear Brentwoodians,
As summer draws to a close, there is a lot happening in Brentwood and around our city, so in order to make space for our contributors, I will try to be brief! Foremost on many of our minds is the return of our children to school this fall. Many parents I know are anxious about the possibility for social distancing in schools, which are already full, and the likelihood that kids will follow guidelines on wearing masks. Adults can help by setting a good example and following the guidelines laid out by Alberta Health Services (www.alberta.ca/prevent-the-spread.aspx). It will be a tense time as we wait to see if measures are effective at preventing outbreaks, and registered psychologist Nancy Bergeron offers some great advice to avoid negativity and show empathy to those around us, as a way to feel better about ourselves.
What are some other ways to deal with stress and anxiety? Getting out and gardening or enjoying nature; getting involved in sports; or doing something creative, and our contributors cover all these. Read on and get inspired!

The Brentwood Community Association and the Brentwood residents would like to thank all those involved in the Brentwood Cares initiative. The volunteers used their unique talents and dedicated their time to make sure residents were supported throughout the pandemic including minor repairs and maintenance to keep everyone safe. In addition, the volunteers and community were gracious enough to donate food and money to ensure the residents have access to food. It is our hope that this spirit continues with donations to the free pantry, Food Bank deliveries, and other events organized to highlight our great community. The Bugle is looking for Brentwood’s best amateur photographers to provide cover images each month. If you have a great snap of our neighbourhood saved on your phone or posted on your social media feed, send it in for a chance to be featured on the cover of an upcoming issue! Photos must be 300 DPI or higher (i.e. from a newer model phone or good digital camera), 6.3 x 8.2 inches minimum size, and portrait orientation.
