Hi everyone!
Another summer is nearing its end, and I think many of us are ready to continue moving through 2020 so we can have this year in our rear-view mirror.
With COVID-19 ever-present in our minds, the Southwood Community Hall requires that all patrons using the building must wear a mask while inside the building. We are following the rules and regulations outlined in the Temporary Face Covering Bylaw with the City of Calgary. Although we don’t have a lot of programming happening at this time, we hope that our regular programs will be starting back up this fall.
As we all know, September is the beginning of the school year. Southwood is home to four schools: Ethel M Johnson Elementary, Harold Panabaker Junior High, St. Stephen’s Elementary and Junior High, and Foundations for the Future Charter School. With these four schools in mind, I ask that you slow down in all playground zones and keep an eye out for children as they get to and from school. When a child is crossing the street, please wait until they have fully cleared the intersection before moving on; they may decide to change their mind while in the crosswalk and turn the other way. It is up to us to protect one another!
The Board will be holding our Annual General Meeting on September 24, 2020, at 7:30 pm (the date is subject to change due to COVID-19). You must have a valid Community Association membership to vote. There are still a number of positions we are looking to be filled for this upcoming term and without your help, the Board can face a number of challenges. We ask that you consider taking the time to look into these positions and if there is something that is of interest, please contact me and I can help guide you.
