Hi Kincora,

First off thank you for an absolutely amazing Winter Festival; seeing the community come together and enjoy our outdoor space is such a wonderful part of being a Kincora community member. We hope you had a chance to get out and enjoy all that we had to offer. If you did happen to miss it, please be on the lookout in the newsletter, website, Facebook, and our community sign boards for our next event.

I’ve been meaning to give the Community an update on our application towards the Joint Use site we locally call the “Kincora Fields”. As a quick update, this field is currently where our skating rink is located and is designated as a “Future School Site”. We applied to have this designation changed in the fall of 2021 and were denied. However, I feel this decision wasn’t in the best interest of the community and have reached out to our MLA, new City Councillor, and new School Trustee to re-engage this process and work together towards a positive outcome. The vision of the KCA is to work with the KRA Homeowners Association to install a sport court where our rink is located. This would be an asphalt pad with the ability to host tennis, pickleball, or basketball for spring, summer, and fall. Then it would become the base of our skating rink for the winter. Along with this sport court, we would like to develop a community garden and install our ping pong table, making this field a community hub for all ages. If you would like anymore information, please feel free to reach out to me at my info below.

Lastly, the KCA and I would like to thank one of our long-time board members Sarah Kromm who has recently decided to step away from the board after many years of highly dedicated service. Sarah has worn many hats over the years but in no particular order she’s been our Vice President, Stampede Breakfast coordinator, our Volunteer Coordinator, does the lovely artwork on our white boards, and is one of the most dedicated Kincorans to her community. Thank you for your dedication, hard work, and taking so much pride in your community Sarah. We’ll miss you but wish you nothing but the best.

As always please feel to reach out,

Travis Merrick
