Hello Neighbours!
Hopefully all of you have recovered from Stampeding! We had a great time at the Stampede Breakfast at MLCA. A big thank you to the team at Summit Church for organizing such a large Stampede party for our community! It’s always a great time and the perfect way to meet other families in our area. We look forward to another successful breakfast next year!
In keeping with the vibrant community spirit of McKenzie Lake, we are hosting two more Sunset Sips and Social events at the community centre outdoor rink. We enjoyed great music, drinks, a BBQ, and lots of good vibes and laughs with our friends and neighbours in July. If you missed out on July’s Friday night socials, you’re still in luck! MLCA is hosting two more Friday night socials this month! Mark your calendar for the Sunset Sips and Social Events this August 9 and 23 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the MLCA rink. If you play an instrument, bring it along so we can jam around the fire pit (if there’s no fire ban) because summer heat and street beats are always on the menu! Enjoy the cash bar and BBQ too. So, grab a lawn chair and bike, walk, or drive on over to the MLCA rink and come chill with other social peeps in the neighbourhood. We would love to get to know you and hope you will make new friends too!
Speaking of neighbourhood spirit and parties…summer fun doesn’t stop in August. Join us in September for the highly anticipated McKenzie Frenzie taking place on September 7! This event just keeps getting bigger and better every year! We are busy working on an extensive all-day band line up for the stage, as well as offering a ton of activities and games for the whole family to enjoy during the family-friendly portion of the day starting at 11:00 am and going until approximately 5:00 pm. The adult party portion then takes the lead in the evening hours until 11:00 pm. We will be serving up a good time so be sure to get a babysitter and join us for the Frenzie “After Party”!
Hey parents! The Before and After School Care Open House is August 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. We encourage all registered children and their families to attend. Come meet the teachers and take a tour through our facility. Our programs are currently full; however, we continue to take on-going registrations. Feel free to contact our office at 403-257-1823 or email [email protected] to be put on the waitlist for our September programming.
Did you know MLCA memberships are an effortless way to support your local community centre programs and events, and to have a voice in what happens in and around your community centre? It’s easy to buy a membership online at www.mckenzielakecommunity.com, or you can visit our office anytime to buy yours now. An MLCA membership is only $25 and is valid for an entire year! You will enjoy perks such as discounted rates for the whole family on kids’ programs and social events, as well as reduced ticket prices on Adult Nights and market vendor table rentals. We are currently working with local businesses to offer special member discounts too. Membership money also raises much-needed funding to help keep your community centre facility and equipment up-to-date and safe for all to enjoy. So, walk or ride over to the office soon to speak with our staff about purchasing your membership now so you can start saving on our line up of programs and events for the 2024/2025 season.
Alternatively, you can still help out! It takes a small village to host events of this caliber. If you’re new to McKenzie Lake or feeling disconnected in some way, why not volunteer with us?! We have many positions to fit your skill set while making yourself some new friends. So don’t be shy! Ages 16+ welcome. Pick up that phone and call us at 403-257-1823 or drop by the MLCA office to get your name added to our volunteer list. We are so excited to meet you!

If you own a business in our area and would like to partner with your Community Association as an event sponsor or membership partner, or you would like to display an advertisement on our rink boards or would like to donate items to raffle at our events to get your business name out there, please contact Jody at 403-279-9866 with your ideas.
