Community Traffic

School Is Back in Session!

Lots of work continues to be done to modify the traffic around the schools. You can help by having your children, if they are old enough and you feel comfortable, get to school on their own. This will help alleviate some of the traffic congestion around the schools. Ask your school if they are participating in any of the active get to school programs. If you drive, please be careful and watch out for kids. Do not park where the buses go. Also arrive early to avoid congestion and do not stop in the middle of the road to let your kids out. September is the month the police will make the most rounds.

Fish Creek Blvd

Fish Creek Blvd has become incredibly busy and fast as it is used as a main connector to the ring road. This will stay busy as some adjacent communities will use it as a preferred path to the ring road. We are working with the city to see what changes can be made.

Traffic Calming Curbs

Over the summer the installation of traffic calming curbs was completed. This was a continuation of the intersections that had been identified years ago. If you have any comments regarding the curbs, please contact us at [email protected]. The curbs are mobile and can be reconfigured if need be.

Community Safety

Pets

There have been increased reports of people looking for lost pets. Please make sure all cats are micro-chipped so they can be returned to their owner. If you have lost a cat, consider going door to door and asking the houses around you. There is a good chance your cat is hiding in someone else’s yard. Do not let your dogs run free in the city parks. There are no nearby off-leash parks near Evergreen. Pick up after your dog so the faeces do not contaminate our parks. Use the appropriate bins, do not leave your waste bags on the ground.

Unlocked Doors

Keep your doors locked! Don’t be paranoid but be vigilant. The CPS promotes the 9pm lock down quite a bit. At 9pm lock everything down before you go to bed. A good habit to get into.

Reporting

Once again, if you witness any traffic issues on an ongoing basis, please take the time to both report it to me at [email protected] and also via the Traffic Service Request directly to the police. This can be done at http://www.calgary.ca/cps/Pages/Traffic/Traffic-Service-Requests.aspx.

Please report road and sign issues to 3-1-1. This can be done by calling 3-1-1, or online at http://www.calgary.ca/CS/CSC/Pages/311.aspx or at the app website http://spot311.calgary.ca.

If you have any traffic questions or concerns or wish to comment on anything I have written here, you can email me at [email protected].

Thanks

Paul Bushell
