Please slow down, drive safely, and watch out for each other!

Traffic and Safety Forum
This month we will be having the Traffic and Safety Forum on Thursday, November 21 at 6:30 pm. It will be held online via Google Meet (check our Facebook for the link). We will have some panel guests in attendance that will be able to answer questions and take note of any issues that residents may have.
Slow Down!
We need to take action to help keep our community safe for everyone that lives in it. If you have visitors to the area, including contractors, please ask them to slow down. I have witnessed fast traffic on our side streets in the morning and heading home and to the schools in the evening, because people are late. Please try to get going a bit earlier so that you are not so rushed.
Weather
By the time you are reading this, I am quite sure some snow has fallen. Did you put your winter tires on? Having winter tires on greatly improves your stopping distance. It has been shown that when the temperature is less than ten degrees Celsius, you get better grip. This is very important in a community that has lots of children.
School Traffic
Once again, I will remind all the parents driving their kids to school to please try and arrive early as this will reduce the traffic congestion at the school and make things safer for all. Please do not park in the school bus parking area! Use the schools designated Hug n Go area.
Safety
Snow and Ice!
If it is a typical fall and winter, there will be snow on the sidewalks. Please be a good neighbour and help each other. Especially those residents who are seniors or have disabilities.
Lock Your Doors!
Over the past few months there have been reports of break and enters because people have left garage door openers in the car and the man-door in the garage open. Crime of opportunity! Don’t let them into your house!
Don’t Give Away Your Stuff!
We have noticed kid’s toys, bikes, scooters, etc. on front yards, and garage doors left open. Don’t invite your stuff to be taken to be fenced and money used illicitly. Please remind your kids to put their stuff away.
Reporting
If you witness any traffic issues on an ongoing basis, or safety issue please take the time to both report it to us at [email protected] and also via the Traffic Service Request directly to the police, or [email protected].
