Hello, Lake Chaparral!
As winter winds down, we’ve had a mix of cold snaps and surprisingly mild weeks—at times, it almost felt tropical!
With ice and skating season coming to an end, please keep an eye on our Safety Flag System. A green flag means the lake is safe for use, while a red flag indicates it is not. You can check the flag status at the park, call the LCRA office, or visit our website.
A big thank you to all participants, staff, volunteers, and sponsors who made this year’s Ice Fishing Derby a success! It was another fantastic event, and we appreciate your support.
Fun Fact: In the earliest Roman calendars (before 150 B.C.), March was the first month of the year! You can still see traces of this in our modern calendar—December was originally the tenth month, named after the Latin word decem (ten).
