Hola Neighbours of Glendale and Glendale Meadows!
We need you! Your GGMCA board has a full slate of events on the horizon and several of them will require the help of many of our community members.
Yes, I’m talking about the “V” word. Volunteer! If you’ve done it before, you know exactly how much your time and effort is appreciated. If you’ve never done it before, I promise you it is quite fun and rewarding. It can also be contagious and a way of “paying it forward”.
The concept of paying it forward involves performing a good deed without expecting anything in return, with the hope that the recipient(s) will do the same for others. This creates a chain of kindness that can have a profound impact on individuals and communities. Acts of kindness can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Also, witnessing or experiencing acts of kindness can inspire others to act similarly. This can lead to a culture of generosity and compassion within a community. Lastly, kind acts can lead to new friendships and stronger relationships. People are more likely to help each other out, creating a supportive network.
I know we have this in Glendale and I’d love to see it burst into action over our events season. The events we will need support with in the coming months are:
1) Community Cleanup (May 4) is always well attended and super fun seeing the garbage trucks squish things;
2) The Stampede Breakfast (July 12) is our association’s largest event where we feed 500+ people; and
3) The Casino Fundraiser (July 20 and 21) is integral to funding the GGMCA’s Hall Operations and requires about 40 volunteers.
Please visit our website at myglendale.ca to sign up for a volunteer shift or email me if you need some convincing at [email protected].
Happy Easter!
