Hello Woodcreek!
We have a busy couple of months ahead! Our community cleanup is on May 24 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. We will be accepting household garbage, electronics, metal, bagged clothing, paint, tires, and batteries. Paper shredding is only available until 1:00 pm. Please ensure your membership is up to date. The cleanup will end promptly at 2:00 pm due to a big event happening in the hall starting at 3:00 pm, and we anticipate a full parking lot. We need to ensure the parking lot is clean.
This cleanup is in conjunction with our first Community Tidy Up, which was one of the first events suggested during the Community Betterment meetings. The idea is to tidy up our communal areas, such as sidewalks, green spaces, alleys, and pedestrian walkways. If you collect more material than will fit in your own bin, bring it to the community centre before 2:00 pm. Look for your neighbours and say hello!
The Woodcreek Mini Basketball program held at Woodborough Park (beside our tennis and pickleball courts) starts May 7. This is a free and inclusive volunteer-run program for kids 8+. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions email [email protected].
Our Glow Party Dance for tweens is on Friday, May 30. Please buy your tickets online early, as no tickets will be sold at the door.
Last year, we had our first Woodcreek on Wheels event, and we had a great turnout for our first car show. Car owners who would like to participate can register their car(s) online for the event held on Saturday, June 21, which happens to be Neighbour Day. Those who would like to organize a block party to celebrate community spirit can get a permit through the City at www.Calgary.ca.
Upcoming Good Food Box order dates are May 5 (pick-up May 14), June 2 (pick-up June 11), and July 14 (pick-up July 23).
Save the date for our Annual Stampede Breakfast on July 5. Planning is already underway for this huge event. If you can volunteer, contact the office. Looking forward to seeing you there!
