Glendale’s President’s Message for May

Glendale cn

It’s May!

April showers bring May flowers. My tulips are in full bloom, and the lilacs are doing their thing (you might be sneezing). Thank you to all our volunteers at the Community Cleanup on May 4. It’s always a fun time seeing things get squished in the garbage truck.

Now that the weather is (mostly) pleasant, you and many of your neighbours are out for walks and bike rides on our streets and paths and parks. As a driver, please keep an eye out for the kids, especially around the T-ball and soccer fields. Those with dogs out for walks can also exercise caution in our parks as the greenbelt from Optimist to Glendale Elementary School is used by many people of all ages. As per the City of Calgary’s dog leash guidelines: Calgary is an “on-leash city,” which means dogs must be leashed unless they are on their own property or in a designated off-leash area marked by signs. Keeping your dog on a leash is crucial for their safety, the safety of others, and the protection of the environment. Demonstrating responsible pet ownership contributes to a safer, more enjoyable community for everyone.

Our ‘Naturally, Glendale’ committee greatly appreciates your feedback from the online survey sent out last month. The team can move on to the next stage of the project with concept drawings and tightening up the scope.

Good luck to all the gardeners planting their seeds and seedlings this month. Fingers crossed for no May-long frost.

Lastly, our volunteer signups are open for the Stampede Breakfast and Casino fundraiser. Please consider joining us. Have a great month, Glendale!
