Don’t Miss The 2025 Community Cleanup

The Discovery Ridge Community Association, alongside the Signal Hill and Springbank Hill communities have organized a community cleanup day where we will have multiple city garbage trucks in a parking lot to assist you in removing some unwanted items from your home. Think of things like old electronics, tires, wood, mattresses, chairs, beds, landscaping etc.

Event Date: Saturday, May 31, 2025

Time: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Location: Westside Kings Church parking lot (SE corner of Springbank Blvd and 69 St SW)

The City will provide trucks to collect garbage going to the landfill. Other recycling vendors include metal, electronics, tires, and household donations. The Drop-In Centre is accepting any furniture. Unfortunately, we cannot accept organics, chemicals, contaminated materials, or hazardous items. It’s a great way to get your spring cleaning checked off the list!

Yahoo, Save The Date!

One of our favourite events, the Stampede Roundup, is coming soon!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. The fun takes place at the park by the rinks. This family-friendly celebration will be packed with games, face painting, line dancing, library book truck, a petting zoo, and more! See you there!

Thank you to our Sponsors (at time of publication): Kristin Mould, CIR Realty; Cornerstone Square retailers: Wonder Donuts and New Discovery Fine Wine and Spirits.

Farm Fresh in Discovery Ridge

The DRCA board has been collaborating with the City to bring a mini farmers’ market to Discovery Ridge this summer. Each Saturday, starting late spring (date to be confirmed) Jo, Pete, and their team from Shirley’s Greenhouse will be setting up a Farm Stand in the parking lot at our Rec Facility from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We are very lucky to have them partner with us, so please stop by and show your support!

They are local and grow only top-quality products, using non-GMO seeds and never any pesticides or herbicides. In fact, the owners say their kids are welcome to eat directly from the vines! Their best seller is their grape tomatoes, which we are told “taste like candy!”. Visit https://www.shirleysgreenhouse.com/ to learn more – we hope everyone is excited! Stay tuned for more information on the opening date!

Public Safety and Community Engagement Awareness Session

Our first community safety webinar was held last month and was well attended. A big thank you to Jose Alvarado for organizing this information session and to CPS Constable Lavictoire for taking the time to present safety strategies, Discovery Ridge’s safety statistics and answering our many questions. If you were unable to attend, we will be hosting subsequent sessions later in the year.
