Check out the BCA Alberta native plants garden bed this spring!

By the time you read this in the June Bulletin, we expect to have our Alberta native plants garden bed all planted in the BCA ecosanctuary behind the community building. Check it out because we will be placing actual plants and not seeds in the bed, meaning by June you should see many healthy plants looking green and some starting to flower. All the plants you will see were provided by Wild About Flowers in Okotoks.

A little later, we will be issuing a planting map for the bed so you can learn about the species, follow their growth, and maybe choose to buy some of the same plants for your garden. If you are interested in what you see growing, please reach out to any of the active Garden Committee members for more information: Jim, Matt, Karen, Brenda, or Stewart, or send a note to [email protected].

In the fall we hope to gather the seeds from these plants and pass them on to Matt for his South-West Calgary Seed library. In the fall Matt will be collecting seeds from donors, packaging them, and giving them away to residents who want to add more native species to their own garden.
