Greetings!
Now that we are approaching the official summer season let’s keep our fingers crossed that we will enjoy great weather allowing us to spend more time outdoors. The community association board has been busy planning several events. This included the successful annual Community Cleanup Event which took place on Saturday, May 31 at the Westside King’s Church parking lot on 69 St SW. This event was a collaborative project run by three community associations including Springbank Hill, Discovery Ridge, and Signal Hill. And of course, we could not run this event without the support and involvement of the City of Calgary who provided the waste disposal trucks on site. I do hope that you, like me, were able to take advantage of this event to clean out unwanted items from your home and garage and avoid the need to go to the landfill site.
We do have another event coming up on June 7. We are holding an adult wine and cheese fundraiser event at a local business, BKL Wines on 85 St SW. Also participating is Springbank Cheese. We do hope that this will be the first of many future adult-focused events. For this function we have a limit of 30 tickets available, and they may be sold out by the time you receive this newsletter. Regardless, you can check our website for more information. Members will have received an email with a link for ticket purchase. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a casual evening with friends and neighbours while helping our community association generate some much-needed funds for our operating budget. And it’s also nice to be able to support one of our newer businesses in our community. Included in the ticket price is wine tasting as well as charcuterie boards from Springbank Cheese. Attendees will also be provided with the opportunity to purchase wines at a discounted price.
Stay tuned for additional announcements concerning Neighbour Day events later this month. And check our website at springbankhill.org to view other event plans for the summer months.
Stay safe and healthy and enjoy our community amenities!
