Please Note the Date Change for the ACA Annual General Meeting

Thursday, October 9, 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the ARC

Get ready for an evening of connection, community, and big reveals! Come to the meeting for a chance to hear firsthand about the exciting initiatives and bold vision shaping our next year. Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to the neighbourhood, this is your opportunity to network with fellow community members, meet your neighbours behind the ACA, and share your voice in shaping the future of our community. We’ll kick things off (and wrap up) with a casual networking session and light refreshments, so come early, stay late, and connect!

We are always looking for more dedicated Acadians to join our amazing and very active Board of Directors. Reach out to [email protected] if you would like to submit your name for nomination!

This year, our President and Secretary positions are looking to be filled. If you or someone you know is interested, reach out to connect with us and learn more!

To be eligible to vote at the AGM, you must have an active ACA membership for at least 30 days before the meeting. Let’s build the future of Acadia together! We can’t wait to see you there!

We are Replacing the Allandale Close Playground!

In 2026/2027 we will be replacing the Allandale Close playground, and we need your help! Take the survey at acadiaca.com/playgrounds to help inform the final design.

The Playgrounds Committee is actively seeking volunteers to help bring this playground project to life. Join us for an opportunity to be a part of something meaningful and create a lasting impact in your community. Learn more about the project and how you can get involved by visiting acadiaca.com/playgrounds.

SouthYeast Brewfest – Back Again on Saturday, October 25

Local craft breweries will be coming down to the ARC to showcase their best on tap. Non-alcoholic options are available this year so everyone can come out to enjoy the festivities! There will be snacks, games, live music, and raffles. Join us to socialize with neighbours and sample what our local breweries have to offer! This is one of our most popular events of the year, and it is a great time to connect and have fun while trying some local brews. Check out acadiaca.com/brewfest and our social media to see who the participating breweries are this year and to purchase tickets.

Thanks for Coming Out to Movie in the Park!

On Friday, September 5, we hosted our second annual Movie in the Park. This event is quickly becoming one of our favourites of the year! It was a very close race, but the animated version of How To Train Your Dragon won the community votes for this year’s feature by a mere sliver!

We would like to thank all our sponsors and partners for coming together to put on such a great event – Olde Fair Gourmet Popcorn, Biggie’s Glizzies food truck, Uzu Ice Cream food truck, Robothink, Trellis Society, Youth Central event volunteers, the City of Calgary Rec Leaders, and the Calgary Public Library Story Truck.

Thank you to everyone who came by to enjoy the movie and our activities pre-show. We’re looking forward to doing this again next year!

Another Casino Fundraiser in the Books!

We cannot thank our amazing volunteers enough for showing up for our Casino fundraiser last month.

Become a Board Member, Join a Committee! Make a Difference Where You Live and Play

Do you want to help shape the future of your neighbourhood? The ACA is driven by passionate volunteers who bring our community to life through exciting events, meaningful programs, and community enhancement projects and initiatives. As the owner and operators of the Acadia Recreation Complex, built in 1980, we understand that it is a vital hub for sports, recreation, and gathering in our neighbourhood. Keeping it running smoothly and accessible to all takes time, care, and community support, which we can’t do without you! As we head into a new term, we’re looking for passionate community members to join the ACA as Board Members, Committee Volunteers, and event supporters. At the Annual General Meeting on October 9, we will be electing a new President and Secretary – critical leadership roles for our future. If you’ve ever wanted to make a real impact where you live, now is the time. Whether you have a few hours a month or are ready to take on a leadership role, your contribution matters. Reach out to [email protected] to learn more.
