Bridgeland Riverside Continuing Care Centre – Community Update for October

Following the recent fire at the Bridgeland Riverside Continuing Care Centre construction site, timelines are currently under review by Alberta Infrastructure. Final dates will be shared with the public once confirmed. We would like to remind the community about the services and residents expected in the new facility. The centre will be home to approximately 200 adults and seniors, most of whom will require a long-term care level of support. Residents will have varying and sometimes complex health needs. The facility is designed to provide a safe, comfortable environment for individuals needing continuing and complex care. Some residents with more advanced conditions will live in secure areas with 24/7 staff oversight and secure outdoor spaces. This is not a consumption site, nor will it offer consumption-related services. The centre will also include outpatient seniors’ clinics and day programs. Once construction is complete, several months will be needed for commissioning. This includes equipment installation, system testing, staff training, and final preparations to ensure the site is ready to provide safe, quality care. The facility’s opening date will depend on the revised construction timeline, and AHS plans to do more community outreach as that date approaches.
