Howdy Rosemontians!

I hope everyone is getting into the fall spirit with all of the leaves changing colours and brisk mornings now here. While it is sad to see summer leave, fall lets us bring out our sweaters, stews, and stouts, so that’s always something I can get behind.

First up, a tremendous thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped make our September BBQ a success. We had a terrific turnout and couldn’t have done it without you. It was great to see many familiar faces and a lot of new ones as well which is always exciting to see. I also want to give a special thank you to longtime Rosemontian Mark Santos and the folks at Nick’s Steakhouse for donating the burgers and hot dogs. This generous act is sincerely appreciated every year and not something we take for granted so once again, thank you.

Our Christmas Market is right around the corner as it will be held on November 22 and 23 this year to avoid conflicts with other great markets. Our market may be small but has a lot of attendees and many vendors have commented on the success and small-scale vibe of the market. If you are a vendor with homemade goods and are interested in renting a table, we have limited spaces available. Details can be found at RosemontYYC.com/market.

Our AGM is also right around the corner. Be sure to save November 17 in your calendars with more details to come.

The municipal election will be held on October 20. We are fortunate to live in a country where our voices can be heard in free elections. You have the opportunity to vote for mayor, Ward 4 councillor, and school board trustees, so I strongly encourage you to get informed about the candidates and their platforms for this important election. Details on candidates and voting locations can be found at ElectionsCalgary.ca.

Halloween is near as well. Be sure to look after all the kiddos making the rounds on October 31, stay safe out there and have a spooktacular good time! And remember, if you break your jack-o-lantern, you can fix it with a pumpkin patch… I’ll see myself out…

Happy Halloween!

Matthew
