As this letter is written, we have just enjoyed a most spectacular community event, Music in the Park. It was very well attended and with great weather and great bands, it was a wonderful afternoon with friends and neighbours. Thank you again to all our amazing sponsors and volunteers for helping to make this event happen!

On this topic, and as this newsletter’s light-hearted cover depicts, this event could quite possibly not occur in 2026 due to the lack of a Lead volunteer. Our sponsors, in particular David Pelletier RE/MAX First, Forero Electric, West Hills United Soccer, Mike Ellis- MLA Calgary West, and New Discovery Fine Wines & Spirits, have remained very supportive and ongoingly loyal as sponsors. This is not a sponsorship challenge for this event; it is a Lead volunteer challenge.

Our Lead is stepping aside from this event after several years of coordinating it. We cannot thank Lillian enough for all of her time and efforts. She has prepared detailed notes and outlines that simply need to be followed with a new Lead’s personal additions, if so desired. Lillian is also willing to remain available to answer any questions along the way. We have dedicated, experienced, and very competent Leads for the various pillars of the event, such as music, beer gardens, facilities (port-a-potties, fencing, etc.), amongst others. We simply need a Lead to keep all of the pieces coordinated and to ensure nothing falls through the cracks. The role could be split easily between two people if you’d like to sign up with a friend!

We strongly encourage you to consider this opportunity if you love the event and would be willing to assist with it being able to continue.

Next up…ice rinks! Watch for the call for volunteers coming soon!

We hope everyone is enjoying autumn and Happy Halloween!
