Do you live on Edgebrook Drive NW? Have you noticed an increase in bad behaviour from drivers who are using that street as a throughfare to the Hamptons? I have received complaints from residents who have reported speeding and passing on the right side of the street, both of which are causing concerns regarding the safety of not only other drivers, but also pedestrians. I would encourage you to report this if you have direct knowledge of such behaviour. Here’s what to do.

• Visit www.calgarypolice.ca.

• Select “Compliments and Concerns” > “Report a Traffic Concern.”

• Submit your traffic service request.

The more residents who report it, the more likely we are to see some action. Provide as much information as you can including the time of day when these infractions are most prevalent. If your concern is more urgent, call 3-1-1 and ask the operator to put you through to the Traffic Unit. You will be connected directly.

With school back, I am getting complaints about drivers’ behaviour adjacent to the schools. In particular, traffic and parking continue to be a problem in and around Edgebend Place and the areas adjacent. If you are one of those drivers who is dropping off students, be careful of your speed as you approach the area and observe the parking restrictions. Due to the way the sidewalks and the roadways were constructed, pedestrians tend to walk down the middle of the street and drivers seem to travel well above the speed limit. In addition, residents are complaining the cars are parked blocking driveways and underneath traffic signs. Please be respectful and be safe!

October activities include the free drop-in board game night at the ECA on October 24 starting at 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Join us for a fun filled night and bring your favourite snacks and games. 14+ are welcome.

Our Annual Winter Market is on November 29. Come shop and enjoy the products of over 80 talented vendors, live carolling, photos with Santa, and so much more! Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

We are also starting to collect items for our Annual Holiday Hamper Program between October 1 to December 15. We are in need of cash and gift cards, new gifts, new winter items, new clothing, and food etc. Donations can be dropped off at the office between October 1 to December 15. Monetary donations can also be made by e-transfer at [email protected] with the password “Calgary”.

Finally, be safe on our street on Halloween night (October 31). Children are excited to be in their costumes and collecting treats. In past years, I have been so impressed with the politeness and general good manners displayed by the kids in our community. Have fun and keep saying those “thank yous” to the homeowners who fill up those treat bags.
