In the last newsletter we mentioned that our next weed pulling session at the Naturalization Pilot Project near the Edgemont Community Centre would take place on October 15; however, the City informed us that they had to change this date to October 16 at 10:00 am. We will also be putting in a seed mix at this time. The City will provide materials and staff to help volunteers with the weed pulling process. If you have not already registered to help out and have a few hours to contribute on October 16, please contact our volunteer coordinator at [email protected].
It was an outstanding year again for the flowers in our Edgemont parks and planters. One of my neighbours commented that this year, the planters are the best ever! Foothills Landscaping has once again done an excellent job with our flowers, and it has been wonderful to see the different selection of flowers in planters in different areas of the community. And we had green grass to boot all summer!
Like last year, the plan is to keep flowers in the planters until imminent frost forces us to remove them! The plan is to make the flowers available to residents at that time. Our only way to communicate a date to Edgemont residents is by asking you to call the Community Centre (403-239-1211) to find out when you can start picking flowers. For safety reasons, only take flowers from pots and areas that you can easily access from the sidewalks. Under no circumstances should you go onto the medians.
Lastly, at the time of publication of our last newsletter, we were still planning to hold a Reaffirmation Vote in the fall. However, the City has asked us to hold off until they complete a full review of the Special Tax Levy (STL) program. It is likely that under the revised STL program, a reaffirmation vote may no longer be necessary to continue the ELM program.
Any concerns or comments about ELM, please contact us using the following email address: [email protected].
