Hello Glenbrook!
It’s the season of harvest moons, crackling bonfires, and the satisfying crunch of leaves underfoot. Oktoberfest is a vibrant celebration of Bavarian culture that originated in Munich, Germany in 1810, marking the royal wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. The festivities lasted for five days! While we won’t be partying for that long, the Community Association will be hosting an Octoberfest Dance on Saturday, October 18 from 7:30 to 10:30 pm. Tickets are 20 per person, and if you are interested in attending, you can RSVP at [email protected]. Silence In B’tween will provide live dance music, and there will be food and drinks that can be purchased for an added cost. It should be a fun evening out; we hope to see you there!
We would like to thank you for your participation in this year’s Community Cleanup Day in May. Glenbrook residents dropped off an impressive total of 12,970 kg of waste. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our vendors: WINS Calgary, for collecting charitable donations; Steve and Barb for providing metal waste bins; and Sheila and Dale from Technotrash for taking care of electronic recycling.
Halloween falls on a Friday this year. It is a time for fun and imagination, but safety should always be part of the celebration. Whether you’re trick-or-treating, attending a party, or decorating your home, a few precautions can make all the difference. Stick to well-lit areas, wear costumes that don’t obstruct vision or movement, and use reflective materials or flashlights to stay visible at night. If you’re driving, be extra alert for children crossing streets. Lastly, make sure to keep your walkway hazard free. Have a great Halloween everyone!
