As the holiday season approaches, I would like to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. Christmas is a time for reflection, gratitude, and connection. May your days be filled with peace, joy, and hope.
Alberta added over 640 physicians in the past year — marking one of the strongest increases in recent history. As of September 30, 2025, there are 12,769 physicians registered to practice, the highest number ever recorded. Growth was seen across all five health zones, including a 10% increase in the North Zone, highlighting strong expansion in both urban and rural areas.
Applications for the Ethnocultural Grant and Anti-Racism Grant will close at 5:00 pm on December 19, 2025. The Ethnocultural Grant supports initiatives that build inclusive, welcoming communities through intercultural connections. And the Anti-Racism Grant funds projects that raise awareness of racism and promote respect and inclusivity.
As we wrap up another year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on some recent exciting milestones and ongoing initiatives in Calgary-North:
• North Trail High School opened in 2023-2024 school year after years of advocacy beginning in 2019.
• Panorama Hills Residents Association community centre expansion is set to open this winter, following support for its CFEP application in 2022.
• Evanston Heights School will serve up to 900 middle school students once construction is complete.
• A new elementary school for Evanston received full funding in Budget 2024, with the contract awarded in August. It’s now in the design phase.
These achievements reflect the power of community collaboration and continued advocacy. Thank you for being part of the journey!
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the residents of Calgary-North since 2019 and throughout this year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
