On October 26, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, families gathered across from the Rock Park in the Mahogany Wetlands for the first-ever Halloween event hosted by the Mahogany Community Association — the Pumpkin Patch Show and Scare!

Despite the chilly weather, about 40 to 50 community members came out to join the fun, including a dozen families who showed up in full costume and brought along their carved pumpkins to display along the pathway. Passersby strolled through the glowing lineup and voted for their favourite creations at the ballot box.

Of course, the candy was a huge hit, adding extra sweetness to the night. In the end, two children tied for the top spot and proudly took home trophies, while the adult winner received a special crocheted pumpkin, handmade by our talented volunteer Sarah.

For a first-year event, the team was thrilled with the turnout and the community spirit on display. Next year, they plan to bring the Pumpkin Patch Show and Scare back — with a few tweaks and possibly a live carving competition (weather permitting!).

A big kudos to event organizer Amiee and all the volunteers who helped create such a warm and memorable evening for our Mahogany families. Stay tuned for more details on the 2026 Pumpkin Patch Show and Scare — it’s sure to be even bigger and better!
