Hello Hawkwood!
As we welcome December, I hope everyone can find some time this month for peace and relaxation during what can be a busy time of the year. I also encourage everyone to keep an eye out for our neighbours, especially those who may find it challenging to get out in the winter months.
Thank you to all the HCA members and Hawkwood residents who came out to our Annual General Meeting at the Uplands Recreation Centre on November 25. The Board of Directors appreciated having the opportunity to provide a report on the HCA’s key achievements over the past year. The full AGM report can be viewed on our website at hawkwoodca.com. My sincere thank you to the 2025 Board of Directors for all your contributions this year. The board does not meet in December but will resume monthly meetings on Tuesday, January 27. The meetings are open to the public and HCA members are encouraged to attend.
Although no meeting is scheduled in December, many HCA volunteers are working tirelessly this month at our Hawkwood Community Park. Let’s all be sure to thank the Winter Maintenance Team when we see them at the park for all their efforts to provide this great recreational amenity to Hawkwood residents. We also ask for your patience as the Winter Maintenance Team builds up the ice surfaces this month. This year, the team will be reducing the ices surfaces that are maintained from three to two: the main ice rink and a crokicurl rink in the firepit area. Last year, the team found it challenging to maintain three surfaces and had fewer volunteers, so they will try a new approach this year. Please respect our request to keep skates off the crokicurl rink. If you like the convenience of being able to skate in your own neighbourhood and want to be part of the dedicated team of volunteers who make this happen, please email [email protected]. Training is provided!
