It has been such a beautiful autumn in Calgary. Did you know that 1917 was the warmest November in the history of Calgary, Alberta? The average daily high temperature was 13.1 °C, and the average low was -0.9 °C. This year, too, has been unusually warm with tennis enthusiasts still spotted on the courts in the middle of November.
Halloween Recap
The Halloween season was officially launched on October 22 with a showing of Beetlejuice at the Hall. Kids arrived armed with pillows, camping chairs, and oversized bean bags ready for Michael Keaton’s classic spooky film …. “It’s Showtime!”

Just three days later, families arrived in some very impressive costumes to dance the night away at the annual Halloween Party. Thank you to the many volunteers who supported this event, from setting and cleaning up to selling tickets and operating the canteen. It truly has become a favourite tradition for families in the neighbourhood.

Congratulations to Lindsay Sali for winning the best costume at the dance
Truly, mother nature really cooperated with the little trick-o-treaters this year (and, a-hem, all you Blue Jays’ fans). If you happened to meander down Grove Hill Road, you’d have likely stopped to watch Game 6 on the big screen setup on the boulevard. Alternatively, you might have spotted the ingenious stroller mounted TV! What a series!

Craft Fair
The November Craft fair was a success with 28 vendors selling their beautiful artisan goods – oil paintings, pottery, crocheted animals, jewellery, and wood carvings (just to name a few). Thanks to Monika Smith for coordinating this event.

Christmas Lights Up at the Rink
You may have noticed some heavy machinery parked down at the rink during November. Thanks to Jim for braving the heights to install some new lights that will add some extra sparkle on those cold winter nights.

Thoughtful Stuff
Many thanks to Heather Smith for capturing and sharing this photo of a Little Free Library, located on 19 Ave, near 37 Street. In her words, the image “shows what a wonderful community Glendale is! Someone even thinking about the pooches in the ‘hood’.”
