Hello Woodcreek!
The board and staff of the Woodcreek Community Association (WCA) wish all our residents a happy and healthy New Year! We’re excited for another year filled with community spirit and great events. Planning is already underway, and we’d love your input—if you have an event idea, please email our Event Coordinator at [email protected]. Our hall is a busy place, so please book as far in advance as possible to secure your spot.
We’re pleased to welcome our new Directors: Greg Brown, Zrinka Poljicak, and Carole Davis. Returning Directors include Anne Bundgaard, Naomi Burkinshaw, Don Lauweryssen, Leanne Long, and David Varga. A heartfelt thank you to our retiring Directors—Nicole Matheson, Katie McLeod, Simone Bourque, and Ross Snyder—for their dedication and service to our community.
The second VP position still open. If you’re interested in volunteering, please reach out—we’d love to have you join our team!
Anne Christopoulos, our treasurer, presented the financial report, and we’re pleased to share that our auditors have given us a clean bill of health. Our 2025 financial statements are consistent with last year and align with our budget. Looking ahead, we have a casino scheduled for June 2026, which will help fund future projects.
We’re planning major upgrades to the main floor of the hall, including new flooring, fresh paint throughout, and converting lighting to energy-efficient LED. We’re also exploring updated furniture to create a more efficient workspace for staff, add flexibility to the boardroom, and make the space more welcoming overall. Our goal is to complete this work over the summer, but contractor scheduling may require adjustments to tenant bookings. We’ll do our best to minimize disruption and provide as much notice as possible.
We’re kicking off the year with two great opportunities to connect! Join us for the Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 13 at 7:15 pm—everyone is welcome to attend. Then, bring the family out for our Family Skate on Sunday, January 25 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Community Centre. Enjoy skating, hot chocolate, cookies, and a cozy firepit for a fun winter afternoon!
