The community of Castleridge was established in 1980, the association is shared between Castleridge and Falconridge, and is one of the most active community associations in the city. Boasting many great green spaces and parks, including beautiful Prairie Winds, Castleridge is a lovely, clean community that is also home to the largest mosque in Canada.
Castleridge is ideal for young, diverse families. Being close to the Saddletowne and Westwinds/McKnight C-Train stations makes it easy to commute downtown while still enjoying the amenities and benefits of NE community living. There are plenty of shops in the area and ample options for daycares and schools, including Carousel Montessori Children’s Centre and Bishop McNally High School.
The Falconridge/Castleridge Community Association is one of the most active in Calgary. It is home to the North of McKnight Community Resource Centre. This centre offers 19 social services to help area residents, including counselling, baby clinics, immigrant services, parent support and financial aid. Aside from the Resource Centre, the community centre also houses 8 play-school classes, and a before and after school care program. The Boys and Girls Club of Calgary has an office and recreational centre complete with pool and foosball tables located in the community centre. The Walsh and Auxiliary halls of the centre are home to a variety of groups, including the Boy Scouts, Kumon, Karate, prayer groups and dance groups such as Zumba and Epic. These numerous programs enable the Falconridge/Castleridge community to appeal to the wide variety of interests and needs of their diverse residents. Always improving, the centre also opened FITPARK in 2022, a free outdoor exercise park right next to the ice-skating rink.

As of the 2021 Census done by the City of Calgary, Castleridge’s population in private households was 6,130 with 56% being first generation immigrants. The median household income before tax was $87,000, with only 24% of households spending 30% or more of their total income on shelter. This percentage presents Castleridge as quite an affordable option.
Real Estate Activity
In 2021, 68% of households in Castleridge were owned compared to only 31% that were rental households. 86% of the dwellings in the community were built between 1961 and 1990, giving Castleridge a sturdy, familiar character. At the time of the Census, owners paid a median of $1,600 a month for shelter costs, and renters paid $1,310, with single-detached homes making up 68% of the dwellings.
