Improved public transportation has been a priority of mine at City Council which is why I supported increased funding to Calgary Transit in the 2018 Budget Adjustments. Starting March 19th, 2018, four new bus routes were introduced in Ward 2: Route 115 – Symons Valley Parkway, Route 138 – Citadel, Route 123 – Sage Hill/North Pointe, and Route 124 – Evanston. These new routes provide improved connections to shopping centres, the Sage Hill Hub, the new Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge, North Pointe bus terminal and Red Line LRT stations. Transit service coverage also expanded in the communities of Evanston and Sherwood, and the realignment of service between Evanston and North Pointe will result in significant travel time savings to the downtown core. The design of the new routes in this area was informed by ongoing feedback that Calgary Transit and I received from the public on the bus route network in our community. I would appreciate any feedback that you have on our new transit routes, and on any other route that needs to be improved.
Spring is finally here! That means the City’s street cleaning crews are coming to our neighbourhoods to remove debris and gravel off the roads. The program, which improves safety and mobility for Calgarians, kicks off at the beginning of April. This year, street sweeping will wrap-up in June. In order to make this happen, crews will be sweeping streets on a compressed schedule, working 7 days per week. We are asking all Calgarians to help us make the city beautiful and roads safe by removing vehicles and carts from the street when you see road-sweeping signs in your community. You can visit Calgary.ca/sweep to confirm your streets sweeping date and to track sweeper progress across the city.
