Even though we don’t like the cold, it is necessary to keep grasshoppers, pine beetles, and Oystershell Scale in check and Dutch Elm Disease from thriving. Dress warmly and help out neighbors that may need assistance.
We had Mike Moore from CPS at this month’s Board Meeting. he reminded us to report any crimes, no matter how small. It allows CPS to gauge where they need to move forces to try to find the people responsible. If you have any video recordings of crimes on your home systems or phones, please forward them to Jeremy Shaw who handles the CPS social media presence. Also, as much as Calgarians take pride in helping fellow Calgarians, I would suggest donating funds to organizations that are in place to help our most vulnerable. I say this because we have been seeing an increase of intersection peddlers frequenting our area. These folks have been causing accidents and putting their lives at risk, especially in high traffic, higher speed intersections like we have at Canyon Meadows and Bow Bottom. Most people don’t know that these folks are capable of bringing in $400-$600 for a few hours of work, making it hard for them to resist. We need to contact Richard Gotfried’s office to encourage the Alberta Government and Justice Minister to make the laws more stringent to make this kind of behavior less desirable.
Many of you will agree that the Rink Ratz have been doing a great job – thank you! It’s probably one of the best ice surfaces we have had. Our skate party will be this month, on February 22. I hope we have good weather and our families have a great time.
Our annual Fun Money Casino and silent auction is also coming up on March 28. It’s always a great time; come out and have some fun!
The maintenance of the center consists of stripping and resealing our gym floor once a year. This year we added pickle ball lines and Rob will be finding times to start offering this indoors.
We are working out a date with our sponsor Dorothea Sautter from Royal LePage for the Parade of Garage sales. We plan to coordinate a date with Deer Ridge.
The Federation of Calgary Communities has informed us that it’s our 40th Anniversary this year. We will be combining celebrations with our annual Stampede Breakfast. Should be an even bigger blast, more to come.
Stay warm, my friends; this winter season is nearing the end.
