April 2026 Ward 1 Report – Councillor Kim Tyers

As construction advances on the two Bearspaw South Feeder Main projects, I remain committed to keeping the community informed through updates.

It is expected that the Bearspaw South Feeder Main Reinforcement project will proceed on March 9, with an estimated completion date of four weeks. During the project, Calgarian’s are being asked to conserve water by taking shorter showers, flushing less, and doing full loads of laundry and dishes. This project will support the ability of the existing feeder main to supply Calgarians with safe drinking water until the new parallel pipe is complete in December 2026.

From March 2 onwards, it is expected that there will be a Community Resource Centre at the Bowness Community Association to provide support to those impacted by the feeder main construction. For more information, please email [email protected].

Stage B of the Bearspaw South Feeder Main Improvement project, spanning from 73 Street NW to 87 Street NW, is expected to begin in May 2026 using an open-cut method. The replacement feeder main, which consists of an additional steel pipe, will be installed on 34 Avenue NW, parallel to the existing feeder main.

In the community, I participated in handing out medals at the Calgary Minor Soccer Association’s Family Day Soccer Tournament at the Shane Homes Soccer Centre. I enjoyed Family Day events hosted by the Tuscany Residents Association and Scenic Acres Community Association. I also attended Chinese New Years Celebrations hosted by the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre, the Premier, the Chinatown Business Improvement Area, and the Sien Lok Society of Calgary.

Please contact my office to share feedback or invite me to your community event. Your input is integral to my work.
