December – Councillor Jeromy Farkas’ Report

Friends,

I am incredibly privileged to represent you on City Council. Especially if I was unable to earn your support, the privilege of serving as your Councillor is not a responsibility that I take lightly. I will work hard to gain your support by delivering on my platform and involving you in decisions. Thank you also to Brian Pincott, Robert Dickinson, Janet Eremenko, Linda Johnson, and Keith Simmons for their community involvement.

I have hit the ground running on major campaign promises by declining my pension and transition allowance (an estimated greater than $500,000 cost to my family), forcing public debate on every secret City Council meeting, and asking for a “roll call” to show who is present or absent for meetings.

The focus of your Ward 11 office is fiscal responsibility, transparency, and respect for citizens. I’ve heard loud and clear the need to cut wasteful spending, end tax increases, and find more efficient ways to deliver the services, programs and infrastructure that matter most.

I commit to listening to your concerns with genuine interest, treating you with respect, and bringing your voice to City Hall each and every day. We will host our first Ward 11 Town Hall in the New Year. You deserve to have regular and direct access to your representative, and I look forward to hearing your views on Ward issues at these forums.

December is a special time to support community, whether by donating to the Calgary Food Bank, shoveling a neighbour’s sidewalk, or simply spending time with friends and family. On behalf of my family and staff, Merry Christmas and warmest wishes to you and your loved ones for a joyous holiday season filled with health, happiness and special memories.

With gratitude,

Jeromy Farkas

City Councillor and Palliser resident
