I am proud to share with all of you the work our government continues to do to make life better for Albertans. We have many initiatives on the go, and I am pleased to share some of my recent work.
In November, I was honoured to recognize Family Violence Prevention month in the Legislature, and I will continue to advocate for solutions and supports for survivors.
I am very pleased our government passed the first reading of Bill 21 – An Act to Protect Patients. Patients should feel safe when receiving medical treatment. Bill 21 could see doctors, along with thousands of other health-care providers, face automatic licence suspensions for sexually abusing patients. I am proud to be a co-sponsor of this important Bill.
It is hard to believe that 5 years have passed since the 2013 Alberta floods. Our government has passed and enacted Bill 8 – The Emergency Management Amendment Act. This Bill is based on reviews from the response to the 2013 southern Alberta floods, and the wildfires in Slave Lake and Fort McMurray. I am proud of Bill 8, as it improves the way our province will handle future disasters.
I will be back in Calgary later this month to spend time with my family during the holidays. I will also be working from the Calgary-Bow office and invite you to stop by my open house in early 2019! Details to come—please see my social media pages for details.
I wish the residents of Calgary-Bow a cheerful and festive holiday season, and a refreshing and prosperous New Year. As you head off on your holiday activities, I wish you all safe travels, good food, and great company.
