These first few months of 2018 have been full of exciting news for Calgarians.

Statistics Canada numbers have been trending in a pattern of economic recovery with Alberta leading Canada in job creation and economic growth. Economic diversification is paying off for Calgarians, however, we know that there is always more work to be done.

I was excited to stand with the Premier earlier this year as Minhas Brewery announced the opening of a distillery right here in Calgary. Their distillery will add dozens of new jobs to Calgary’s job market and I couldn’t have been prouder to be with them to mark the special occasion.

I was also honoured to visit many workplaces with the Minister of Labour to speak to Calgarians about how we can improve their working conditions. We had the opportunity to stop by the Calgary Remand Centre, Calgary Lab Services in Ranchlands, as well as the Calgary Film Centre. I also joined the Minister for the Status of Women at the Calgary Children’s Hospital to talk with staff about the important work that they do. I think we can all agree that it takes a special kind of person to provide the level of care and compassion that our health care workers provide, day in and day out, for all Albertans.

With the spring session of the legislature kicking off in the coming days, I look forward to continuing to bring your voices to Edmonton.
