The deadline to nominate a community hero for the Minister’s Seniors Service Awards, celebrating those who make life better for Alberta seniors, is April 30. The Minister’s Seniors Service Awards recognize individuals, organizations, and groups who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of seniors. Nominations can be submitted online (Minister’s Seniors Service Awards | Alberta.ca), through mail (Minister’s Seniors Service Awards, Assisted Living and Social Services, 44 Capital Boulevard, 12th Floor, 10044 108 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T5J 3S7) and email ([email protected]). Recipients will be honoured at an in-person ceremony this fall.
Alberta is supporting post-secondary institutions to embed addiction recovery into the post-secondary experience through Recovery on Campus Alberta – an initiative that reduces stigma and improves access to recovery-oriented resources. Recovery on Campus Alberta is supported by a provincial investment of $3 million over three years, double the province’s previous commitment. By providing individual and group support, sharing education, offering scholarships, creating research opportunities, and collaborating across campuses, Recovery on Campus Alberta empowers students, staff, and faculty to pursue and sustain a substance-free life of purpose, connection, and wellness.
Alberta’s community grants are building stronger, brighter, and more welcoming communities across the province. In the last year, Alberta’s government has invested $64 million through the Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) and the Community Initiatives Program (CIP) to help non-profit organizations deliver services, improve facilities and strengthen communities across the province. Non-profits improve lives, create jobs, stimulate local investment, and provide essential services for thousands of Albertans. From family supports to community gathering places, non-profits respond to local needs and create welcoming spaces where Albertans can connect with friends, family, and neighbours.
Wishing you a joyful and blessed Easter filled with hope and happiness.
Thank you to my constituents for your support.
