Alberta’s government is investing nearly $25 million in grants to support innovative community-led projects that improve access to primary health care. These grants reflect key recommendations from the MAPS report and aim to build a stronger, more responsive primary health care system for Albertans.
Alberta’s government is extending the Alberta Lung Cancer Screening Program with a one-year $2 million grant supported by an additional $500,000 from the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Additionally, $3 million will be distributed across four organizations through the Cancer Research for Screening and Prevention grant program. Alberta’s government is committed to ensuring Albertans have access to the best cancer care.
Education
Alberta’s population is growing and with it comes increasing pressures on the province’s school system. Our government is working to build and renovate more schools so we can keep up with increased student enrollment and will speed up the delivery of 11 previously announced school projects, including two in Calgary, through the School Construction Acceleration Program (SCAP). Since the introduction of the program in 2024, a total of 33 previously announced school projects have been approved to move forward to the next stage of the construction process. SCAP is backed by a generational investment of $8.6 billion to build and renovate more than 100 schools, which will create 200,000 student spaces across the province. The provincial government is investing $50 million to provide modular classrooms to 19 school boards. This funding will produce 50 new modular classrooms and relocate 19 others to provide more than 1,650 new and relocated student spaces in Alberta’s fastest growing communities.
