We are entering what I am sure we all hope is our first and only pandemic winter. I for one, will not be sad to say goodbye to 2020. While it has been a year we would like to put behind us, it has also been a time when we have seen extraordinary acts of sacrifice, kindness, and community, that have brought us closer together (albeit not physically). Our frontline workers in the healthcare sector have done their jobs admirably under the most trying circumstances, as have our first responders. Teachers, students, and parents have had to adapt to incredible changes in the way in which education is delivered. Workers in the retail sector, particularly those in essential services such as, grocery and pharmacy outlets, have been there when we most needed them. And residents of this community have reached out to our most vulnerable neighbours with numerous offers of assistance and support. As the old saying goes, “no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

At the BRCA Annual General Meeting on November 18, three members of the community were elected as new members of the Board of Directors. Welcome to Sarah MacDonald, Bonnie Kemp, and Jason Knight, and thank you for agreeing to contribute your time and energy to support the work of the Board. We also want to thank our departing Directors, Ali McMillan, Joe Belland, Jill MacDonald, and Josh Delannoy, for your past service and contributions to the community. Please note that the Board is also looking for assistance with its various committees – Planning, Beautification, Heritage – as well as with numerous programs and events. If you would like to get involved and deepen your connections in the community, please reach out to any of the directors.
