We Have a Lot Happening at the De Winton Hall

The De Winton Community Association (DCA) owns a large hall where we host many events aimed at promoting community spirit, recreation, and healthy lifestyles for area residents. Our hall was in serious need of some exterior improvements.

The first major upgrade included replacement of our exterior shakes, shoring up the deck and overhang supports, and raising a portion of the deck so the deck was all one height. The cedar shakes were almost 30 years old, in disrepair, and a fire hazard. The unlevel deck was a safety hazard.

A second project involved replacing all our worn-out deck boards with composite.

Our third project this spring is to work on a big facelift to our gardens. This update includes grounding stumps, replacing landscape fabric, raking gravel, pruning, digging up and replacing plants, and raking and shovelling some more. There have been many hands involved in this project and we thank them all for their contributions. It has been a major undertaking! We couldn’t do it without you!! Thank you, Cindy and Gerry Poole, Amanda Gotmy, Lee (our bobcat operator), John Thorp, Mike Kosinec, Trudy van Gilst, Mel Ternan, and Yoyo.

This was the first major update to the exterior since the hall was rebuilt in 1997 and it looks absolutely amazing.

These necessary renovations would not have been possible without the financial support through a generous grant from the Dunbow Recreation Board for the shakes.

The DCA owes a big thank you to the volunteers who make our casino fundraiser a success. Without these funds this project would not have been possible.

We also need to give a big special thank you to one of our wonderful members who held a DCA fundraiser at her birthday party!

Without our hall, we wouldn’t be able to offer our many events and recreational activities to our community.

Many people contribute to the hall in so many ways. We appreciate all who help us by contributing whatever they can to help us remain a vibrate resource in our community.
