Beddington’s Message from the Board for June

Hello June,

As the weather warms and we begin to see our planted seeds pop their heads up in our gardens, we are joyfully breathing in some warmer air and relishing in not having to wear heavy coats and boots. May gave us unexpected moisture in the form of snow, but it was a much-desired boost to everyone’s growing season.

May 4 saw the Green Space Cleanup alongside Huntington residents, with an incredible turn out, a ton of garbage picked up and a wonderful barbecue to follow. There was a great deal of hard work done by everyone followed by an opportunity to then visit with other residents and enjoy some cold drinks and smokies; thank you to everyone who attended.

May 5 was a great success in the community garden with many volunteers coming out to clean up the beds and spread mulch and manure down for optimum soil. Thank you to everyone who came out to make this happen.

June continues its fast pace with Sleddington on June 8, which is a family-friendly event showcasing musical youth talent in our city. There will be food trucks and game areas for kids, sitting areas and much more.

We are adding a twist to Neighbour Day on June 15 by also making it a Community Clean-up Day where you have a chance to win some gift cards if we “catch you in the act” of cleaning up the neighbourhood. Create a team and have some fun with your neighbours.

Finally, we are once again teaming up with the Sandstone/MacEwan for the Community Clean-Up on June 23 at Sandstone’s hockey rink. Please see the poster within the Banner as to what items are accepted and what is not accepted. Also, we are looking for volunteers for this event as it requires lots of people to load and unload items into the appropriate truck. Please contact either www.sandstonemacewan.com or www.beddingtoncommunity.ca if you can assist us.

Keep an eye out for Edenscapes to fill our beautiful boulevard planters once again with spring and summer flowers. It’s always lovely to watch them grow and flourish over the summer.

Finally, mark your calendars for the Parade of Garage sales in August. Continue to stay tuned for more updates on our website, Facebook and Instagram and please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

With appreciation,

Bonnie, Nadine, Marty, Leandra, Jessica, Wendy, Korin, and Brady!
