Community Activism and the Arusha Centre – How Might We Build a Better Brentwood?

Tuesday, May 9, 7:30 pm at Nose Hill Library

Come out for an evening to learn about the Arusha Centre and it’s work for over 50 years to build a better city, by helping Calgarians through community economic development and community resilience programs.

Their documentary will be shown, and following the film there will be time to briefly talk about issues you believe are important for Brentwood and think about where we might take action. There will also be an opportunity for a sharing of resources for community change, like the Arusha Centre’s Take Action grants, which could provide a resource to help build a better Brentwood.

Little Food Library

For over three years, the Brentwood Little Food Library has helped provide food and connections to those struggling as part of our community. W continue to have the porch bin setup, to accept your food donation (we’ll check for squirrels before we bring it over).

• Little Food Library (3624 Boulton Rd NW): Thanks for the tremendous support this winter. Demand continues to grow and many times through the day the box is empty. We are still getting some days of below freezing temperatures, so stable goods (like nuts, peanut butter, fish in oil, rice/pasta, cereal, and dried fruit) are helpful to have. But since it is warming up, canned goods are warmly welcome again. Donations of cash or gift cards are always welcome, please use the mailbox and ring the bell or text 403-606-6949 so it gets picked up.

• Food Bank Hamper Drivers: More drivers are always welcome, soon enough it will be summer, and with vacations any extra drivers will be greatly appreciated. Have an hour or so free on a Tuesday to Thursday in the morning? Please email [email protected] for more details.
